Samantha Ladwig is an essayist, writing instructor, and book reviewer based on a small island in the Salish Sea.
Her writing has been published by The Cut, Literary Hub, Vulture, Real Simple, Vice, Bustle, HuffPost, Vox, BUST, and Brevity, among many others. She is currently at work on a collection of essays, which has received support from Tin House and Centrum.
Samantha is a former indie bookstore owner. She continues to recommend books, discuss craft, and share creative insight through her Substack newsletter, Narrative Sea.
Over the years, her work has provided her opportunities to attend - and sometimes cover - the Academy Awards, Telluride Film Festival, AFI Fest, and the Seattle International Film Festival. She holds an MA in Archives and Records Management and previously worked as a film cataloger at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences as well as a film archivist at the University of Washington Libraries' Special Collections.
