Samantha Ladwig

Samantha Ladwig is an essayist, book reviewer, and writing instructor based on a small island in the Salish Sea.

Her writing has been published by The Cut, Literary Hub, Vulture, Real Simple, Vice, Bustle, HuffPost, Crimereads, Vox, and BUST, among many others. She is a two-time Centrum Residency recipient and a 2025 Tin House Winter Workshop alum. A former indie bookstore owner, she is currently at work on a memoir.

Over the years, her work has provided her opportunities to attend - and sometimes cover - the Academy Awards, Telluride Film Festival, AFI Fest, and the Seattle International Film Festival. She holds an MA in Archives and Records Management from Western Washington University and previously worked as a film cataloger at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences as well as a film archivist at the University of Washington Libraries' Special Collections. She currently serves on the board of the Port Townsend Film Festival.
